Using the metaphor of a Victorian ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ this roaming outdoor installation looks at the notion of memory, and the unseen life we live on the inside.
This multi-sensory experience takes the form of a travelling cart, a Wunderkammer on wheels. Curated and cared for by two unusual, silent characters, the cart houses an array of sights, sounds and smells – all waiting for an audience to unlock their secrets and to make sense of their meaning.
Much like our minds and memories, as time has gone on the cart has grown – embellished by the travels and stories of the caretakers and the people they meet along the way. What clearly started as a simple hand pulled cart, has seen the addition of boxes, cabinets and drawers over time. It is as eccentric and otherworldly as the characters in charge of it.
This 30 min roving show, currently in development, requires audience participation and aims to bring people together for a common goal – to create a unique memory to add to the piece.
Featuring live music, looped sounds and interactive multi-sensory experiences – this show is as suitable for a daytime, family audience as it is for a late-night adult audience
‘In this world of memories, there’s no need for strangers.’
